It’s important to remember that mandatory equipment isn’t intended to make your experience more difficult. While you may not use most of it on the route, it’s there for when things go wrong. You are exposed to the elements out there, which can turn harsh quickly. The list of mandatory equipment can then become a lifesaver. Please study the following equipment list.
You don't have to bring it all to bib collection, but we will do random checks at the start line, and if you don't have it all with you, you will not be allowed to start.
These are the basic pieces that each trail runner must adapt according to their own skills. You must carry the mandatory equipment with you during the whole race - from start to finish - or you will be penalized.
Music: Listening to music using earphones is tolerated, so long as it is safe to do so. Any earphones must be removed when crossing any roads, as well as on approach to, and whilst at, any checkpoints and when approaching and passing any Officials.
Random Checks: Race officials may perform systematic and/or random checks of your equipment at any time during the race. A penalty up to disqualification will be applied to runners who do not have all the mandatory equipment with them.
Kullamannen is an unsupported race. This means that you are not allowed to receive any external assistance at any point during the race – neither on the course nor at the aid stations.
- You may not accept anything from a person who is not participating in the race: no bars, gels, food, clothing, or other equipment.
- You are not allowed to leave any personal items along the course. The only exception is your drop bag at the aid station in Båstad.
- The only people you may accept limited help from are the volunteers in yellow vests. They are not there to assist you, but we do not consider it cheating if they, for example, help you open a water bottle.
- You are also allowed to receive medical assistance at the aid stations where this is provided.
